The Townsville Central State School Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a not-for-profit association that provides the important functions of:

  1. operation of the Outside School Hours Care service
  2. representing the school community, to work with the Principal, on matters relating to the continuous improvement of school policy, curriculum and facilities
  3. fundraising for the provision of equipment/materials/amenities to benefit the school community

The P&C operates year to year under the stewardship of its elected Executive, guided by its Constitution and regulated by legislation. While these set the foundation, P&C activities and achievements are only possible through the valuable contributions and continued support of the wider school community.

Recent achievements

100% of fundraising monies are allocated to prioritised projects or purchases that directly benefit the school community. Examples of recent projects include:

  • securing funding for the installation of a senior playground

  •  installation of bike safety track

  • installation and upgrade of the front entranceway including installation of the commemorative walkway.

  • funding the 150th celebrations for the school in 2019
  • purchase of annual subscriptions for the school library

  • installation of the wellbeing garden

  • purchase of drums for the 'Rhythm to Recovery' program run by the school chaplain and the wellbeing teacher.

Community contributions and support

The P&C acknowledges the day to day demands and competing priorities of busy families, and that many parents/caregivers/family members do contribute in various ways throughout the year including:

  • attending P&C meetings

  • taking on the position of class representative

  • planning/participating in various fundraising activities/events

  • sourcing donations

  • assisting with Friday night/Sunday meat tray raffles

  • assisting with classroom activities (learning programs, reading etc)

  • assisting in the school library

  • participating in working bees in the school grounds

  • assisting with Wednesday tuckshop

  • researching projects/options analysis or sourcing quotations

  • assisting with BBQs for school events

  • assisting with school events such as athletics and swimming carnivals

  • donating goods or funds to fundraising events throughout the year

This list is by no means exhaustive and additional support is always welcomed and gratefully received. The P&C invite interested members of the school community, who are willing and able to assist with any of the above (in any capacity), or have ideas for fundraising or other P&C related activities, to contact the P&C at  exec@tcsspandc.com.au or any of the Executive members directly. Alternatively you can come along to the regular P&C meeting held on the 3rd Thursday of every month commencing at 5.30pm in the school library, to share your ideas.

Wish list

A number of families have approached the P&C as they may be 'time poor' but would like suggestions on other ways to contribute.

If you would like to make a Wish list donation or any other item, please contact the P&C or any of the Executive members. This list will be updated regularly as items are acquired or new items are being sought.
