Camps and excursions

Excursions are half-day or full day activities - students may walk if the venue is close enough or may be transported by bus - the method of transport and venue will determine costs - some excursions may be covered under the extra-curricular levy. Due to our location, our teachers often plan excursions to Queen's Gardens, Queen's Park, The Strand, Perc Tucker Regional Gallery and North Ward Shopping Centre thereby minimising costs.

Camps involve at least one night away from home and school and therefore attract costs for transport, accommodation, food and activities - parents meet the costs of camps. In 2015 students in years 5 and 6 travelled to Canberra. In 2015 year 2 students enjoyed a Reef Sleep at Reef HQ, year 3 students travelled to Magnetic Island  for a one-night stay and students in year 4 travelled to Airlie Beach for 3 nights. In 2016 years 5 and 6 will travel to Mungalli Falls Student Village (Cairns Highlands).

Canberra

Every two years students in the upper year levels are invited to travel to Canberra for school camp - this coincides with curriculum studies around government. In 2017, students in years 5 & 6 will be invited to travel to Canberra for their annual camp.

All school camps require planning - transport, accommodation, food and activities - and in the case of the Canberra camp - fundraising. The full cost per student is generally about $1000 per student so a P&C sub-committee has been established to organise and manage fundraising activities so that parents do not have to pay the full cost. Please visit the Canberra Fundraising page for more information on fundraising activities.
